Mel B to headline Karren Brady’s Women in Business & Tech Expo

Hub Exhibitions, organisers of Karren Brady’s Women in Business & Tech Expo, has announced that singer, songwriter and television personality, Melanie Brown (pictured right), will provide the opening keynote on day one of the event.

The event dedicated to supporting women in business will run virtually from 13-14 October, with content available for ticket holders to view on-demand for 30 days.

Mel B, also known as Scary Spice through her work with pop group the Spice Girls, will share lessons from her career to date and her experiences in her personal life as a survivor of domestic abuse. She is also a patron of charity Women’s Aid.

Karren Brady’s Women in Business & Tech Expo is designed to provide an environment where women can share insights and knowledge and meet one-to-one with organisations and service providers.

The event will feature educational talks and will provide attendees with access to companies committed to diversity, equality and inclusion. It will also feature businesses offering products and services for SMEs to scale their business, including franchise opportunities.

Content at the event will also cover the future of the workplace and adapting to hybrid working models. It will include over 60 seminars and more than 60 exhibitors.

Attendees will also have access to the Women in Business & Tech Clubs, which hosts additional virtual meetups throughout the year.

Baroness Karren Brady of Knightsbridge CBE will also share her business experience with attendees, providing tips and advice for success. Joining Brown and Brady during the event will be:

  • Caprice Bourret, award-winning model and businesswoman

  • Scarlett Allan-Horton, founder of Harper Fox Partners and BBC Apprentice finalist 2019

  • Louise O’shea, CEO of Confused.com

  • Vanessa Vallely, Founder of WeAreTheCity

  • Paulina Sygulska Tenner, Founder of GrantTree

  • Harriet Scott, Broadcaster and presenter at Magic Radio

Christie Day, group event director at Hub Exhibitions, said: “Melanie is such an important voice in the women’s rights movement today, and her honesty of the challenges she has faced goes a long way to inspire and help women who have been in similar situations.

“We want to empower attendees to take the next step in their career or business journey. We’re also thrilled to have a number of The Times Top 50 Employers for Women including Accenture, Bank of America, Capgemini, Goldman Sachs and PWC exhibiting at this year’s event.”
